New Book: Flight Culture and the Human Experience

I’m thrilled to announce that I am one of the authors featured in an upcoming volume called Flight Culture and the Human Experience, edited by Scott Palmer, from Texas A&M University Press. You can pre-order the book now from the publisher or from Amazon!

I’m very honored to be included alongside the eight other scholars in this book, all of whom are fantastic. My chapter is called “Selling the Fighter Pilot’s Dream Machines: The F-15 and F-16 in the Public Eye,” and it explores how manufacturers and the Air Force presented the F-15 Eagle and the F-16 Fighting Falcon to the public and how those presentations shifted over time.

The other chapters are great as well. As the official description says: “Flight Culture and the Human Experience sheds new light on the myriad ways aviation has transformed ideas, cultures, and societies across time and around the globe. In bringing together seven established and emerging scholars to explore little known chapters in the history of aviation, this collection transports readers back to ‘a time when flight was new, while opening analytical paths for interpreting the future.’”

A huge thank you to all the authors who worked on this, and to Scott Palmer for running the project. I’m excited to see it come out!
